BSBG hosts staff Iftar to commemorate Ramadan

Wonderful food and great company; the annual Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) Dubai Headquarter’s Iftar was held this week at QD’s, overlooking Dubai Creek. The Iftar, hosted by Managing Partner Alistair McMillan, is one of the more popular events on the BSBG calendar, and is always well attended and greatly enjoyed by all.Commemorate RamadanIftar is the breaking of the fast at sunset during Ramadan, and is one of the most significant points in the day during the holy month. Iftar is the main meal of the fasting day, but it is not usually the initial breaking of the fast. Most commonly Muslims will break their fast with something like a glass of water, a date or a few olives. They will then break for prayer before returning to eat a more substantial meal – Iftar. For Muslims the fast represents a purification of all sins and is a time to cleanse the mind, body and soul. It is also believed that to feed a fasting person brings great reward from God, and as such Iftars are held in almost every public gathering place in the UAE; from mosques to community centres and restaurants.Commemorate RamadanThe wonderful feast on offer at QD’s was expertly captured by BSBG’s new resident photographer, the incredibly talented Sreejit Shashi, who is also a Senior Structural Technician with BSBG. The vibrancy and rich colours on display perfectly encapsulate the beauty of the Iftar enjoyed by the staff of BSBG.Commemorate RamadanPartner Andrew Bereza gave his thoughts on the Iftar: “It’s great to take time out to respect what is a very important time for the community here in Dubai and a large proportion of our staff. A very respectful time, a charitable time, and a time during which we are encouraged to think about someone or something other than ourselves, and our own worries or concerns. It’s wonderful to share that moment with our people each year.”Commemorate RamadanCommemorate RamadanCommemorate Ramadan
