Managing Partner Alistair McMillan celebrates 25 years at BSBG

Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) Managing Partner Alistair McMillan is celebrating 25 years with the business. Under his leadership, BSBG has emerged to become an award-winning, renowned international firm which has designed and delivered complex, prestigious projects in eleven countries across three continents.

To commemorate his 25-year anniversary, we have created a video featuring an interview with Alistair himself, as well as contributions from the Senior Partners and Partners, to understand some of the key factors that enabled him to forge a path towards BSBG becoming the leading design and delivery consultancy firm it is today.

Having joined BSBG (at that time a local Dubai-based practice most widely known for the design of Emirates Golf Club) as a Senior Architect, within a year Alistair had become a Partner, before quickly taking up the reigns of the business. He immediately began working on developing capabilities within the practice that would enable them to take on projects of larger scale across the region. “Initially I had to focus on getting the right people in place,” he explains. “In the very early days we took on current Senior Partners Kevin Harper and Andrew Bereza at a young age. They didn’t necessarily have a wealth of experience behind them, but I mentored them through that. I’m very much an advocate of training people. I believe that if you have the right qualities, you can always gain the experience. As a consequence of that approach, we’re the practice that we are today.”
