Construction Update: First buildings reach handover at The Silk District Phase 2

The first two low-rise buildings which make up The Silk District Phase 2 development have now reached handover point, and have been successfully delivered. The two low-rise 7-storey buildings are connected to the main tower - due to reach handover in September 2023 - within the project by new streets and landscaping, all of which are nearing completion.

Located in Whitechapel, London, the project is formed of a G+25 residential tower (C1) featuring commercial spaces at ground and first floor level and a number of F&B outlets. The two connected low-rise buildings (C2 and C3) contain a range of affordable and intermediary apartments, in line with the Greater London Authority’s Affordable Housing Programme for new projects. The project is by developer Mount Anvil, with Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) as Executive Architect.

Shaham Ahmed, Head of Studio London, commented on the latest milestone of the project as it nears completion. “It’s wonderful to be able to see the quality we have delivered with the completion of buildings C2 and C3,” he said. “The main tower is now only months from delivery, and the whole experience of delivering a residential development of this quality, for a fantastic developer, and with a great team, has been an enriching experience for all of us at BSBG. We believe we have created an end-product that we can be proud of, and a place that not only improves the lives of those that will inhabit the buildings, but also the local community around Whitechapel.”
