The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai welcomes first students

The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai has today opened to welcome its first pupils, with construction completed on programme to enable a smooth and timely handover to client and school operator, Cognita.

Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) managed the design and delivery of the architecture, interior design and engineering under a Design & Build contract, working closely with contractor Multiplex and concept architects Bogle Architects, overseeing elements of Schematic Design, before delivering the Detailed Design and Construction Documentation prior to the project moving on to construction.
 

The Royal Grammar School Guildford has a 500-year history of pioneering heritage and knowledge of providing outstanding education. The Dubai school will teach the British Curriculum to boys and girls aged three to 18, and several key members of the British school’s senior management team have relocated to Dubai to oversee educational standards and implementation in line with both the Cognita and Royal Grammar School Guildford traditions and values.

A centrepiece of the new Tilal Al Ghaf development between Dubai Motor City and Dubai Sports City, the 40,000 m² campus has a huge focus on sustainability and wellness for staff and pupils, and features state-of-the-art laboratories, music, art and sports facilities.
 

All learning spaces are linked by a unique ‘street’ concept, featuring a central atrium of trees, plants and living ‘biophilic’ walls. This ‘street’ becomes a communal hub and breakout space for pupils, with nature at its heart to perpetuate the sense of wellbeing that emanates from within the campus. A 500-seat auditorium, a double-storey library, a 25-metre swimming pool and full-size football pitch add to the list of impressive facilities that helped The Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai become one of the most highly anticipated school openings in the United Arab Emirates.
