Construction Update | The Residences, Dorchester Collection, Dubai making strong progress

The Residences, Dorchester Collection, Dubai has recently reached a number of significant project milestones, with construction making rapid progress despite the challenges represented by adhering to social distancing protocol and additional safety measures on site during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In terms of milestones, the building maintenance system installation has commenced within the residential tower, which topped out at 32 storeys at the beginning of the year. In the hotel tower, meanwhile, concrete works related to the primary structure are complete and construction of the rooftop hardscaping is underway.

On level 8 of the residential tower, the first in-place residences are now complete, with interior fit-out works ongoing in both the back of house and front of house areas. Backbone MEP infrastructure works are continuing in both the residential and hotel towers, with the first vertical transport unit now fully operational.

Externally, the façade works are continuing, with BSBG Project Manager Colin Long estimating approximately 55% completion to date.

Finally, the landscaping detailed design is expected to reach completion within the next month.

The Residences, Dorchester Collection, Dubai is a highly anticipated new 5-star hotel and residential development by Omniyat that will become the centrepiece of the Dubai Canal waterside once complete. Designed by Foster + Partners, the development is set to become the world’s 10^th Dorchester Collection hotel, and the very first in the Middle East.

BSBG became involved in the project as the executive architect and lead consultant, working alongside Foster + Partners throughout the detailed design phase, as well as on façade, structure and MEP coordination. Once the detailed design was complete, BSBG was novated to contractor Roberts Constructions under a Design & Build contract to see the project through to completion.
