A lifestyle destination, defining a new standard in activated mall design

A state-of-the-art mall designed to present to the end-user a simplified, ultimately convenient shopping experience, Festival Plaza also focuses on the experiential; with developer Al-Futtaim’s aspirations for the destination centred around creating a place where people share memories and social experiences.

Festival Plaza is located in close proximity to some of Dubai’s most heavily populated residential communities, such as Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Lakes Towers, and its appeal as a shopping destination for these affluent districts is enhanced by the inclusion of the UAE’s largest IKEA furniture store. Additionally, the development features an ACE Hardware store, more than 120 retail outlets within the mall itself, a food court with 40 F&B offerings, and 2,310 parking spaces.

Design features

The heart of the retail development is the double-height atrium, which connects both front and rear entrances, and is lined with high-end retail stores on either side. Internal shopping streets carve their way through the mall on various levels, with routes and sightlines planned meticulously. The mall incorporates numerous state-of-the-art sustainable solutions, which include LED lighting, solar panels and materials that provide extra insulation to reduce the carbon footprint of the development. End-user convenience and sustainable features are two central components of the overall concept.

A project with solutions comprising the three BSBG pillars of architecture, structural engineering and interior design, Festival Plaza is representative of a continuing relationship with developer Al-Futtaim Group which has delivered many of the region’s most significant retail destinations, including IKEA stores in countries throughout MENA.
