A number of projects have progressed for BSBG in this first quarter of 2019, many of which are set to reach handover point before the end of the year. In doing so they will join developments such as Zaha Hadid’s The Opus, Aloft City Centre Deira and Masdar N1R; three projects that completed for the group in 2018. Our latest construction update covers three sites all located in the south of Dubai, beginning with one of many landmark BSBG projects – the Bluewaters Residences development.
Bluewaters Residences has now reached completion and residents have started to move in, with the majority of the buildings now occupied. The project consists of 10 low-rise residential buildings ranging in height between G+6 and G+14, and 17 townhouses positioned on the seafront offering unimpeded views across the Persian Gulf.As the Executive Architect and Lead Consultant, BSBG executed the delivery of a design completed by Hong Kong-based studio 10 Design, with Meraas the end-client. Offering a cultural and vibrant living experience within a unique waterfront setting, Bluewaters Residences has emerged to become one of Dubai’s most exclusive high-end communities. The man-made island itself also features the Caesar’s Palace hotel resort, and Ain Dubai.
Located in Jebel Ali, construction of Festival Plaza continues to advance, with structure assembly well underway in all zones across the 81,000 sqm site. This new retail development is highly anticipated, as completion will bring a second IKEA to the Emirate, complementary to the first in Dubai Festival City – which was also delivered by BSBG well over a decade ago. The structural steel construction of IKEA’s top floor is still ongoing, and as for the adjoining Festival Plaza mall, which will house over 100 retail units, BSBG continues to work alongside developer Al Futtaim Group Real Estate to integrate tenant fit-out and operability requirements into the mall design. This is a full service project for the group, involving complete design and delivery solutions across the disciplines of architecture, interior design and structural engineering.
The accomplishment of significant milestones continues at Banyan Tree Residences – Hillside Dubai. The award-winning development’s tower topped out in 2018, and the structure is 100% complete, while glazing on the façade is visibly in the ascendancy. The BSBG-designed Banyan Tree Residences – Hillside Dubai marks the group’s second project for Dubai developer Sweid & Sweid, and the second award-winning design as a result of this partnership. The project is located on a prominent corner site of Jumeirah Lakes Towers, and overlooks both the Emirates and Montgomerie Golf Courses.
