A skilled and highly creative design leader, Michael Lewis embodies the passion, attitude and the unique vision required to activate transformative, emotive design. In addition to his recognised design vision and nuanced aesthetic styling, Michael is a renowned motivator and cultivator of fresh design talent. He is also an early stage advocate of new design technology and software to advance his team’s creative capabilities. Michael leads +studio, the BSBG design hub, encouraging his team to look towards the provision of holistic design as a solution, founded upon an ingrained understanding of how people use and interact with space, and targeted at forging an emotive connection between the architecture and the end user. This dynamic and visionary approach has been at the heart of the +studio designs for luxury wellness resort SHA Emirates and the prestigious Visa Middle East Headquarters building.
Michael’s enthusiasm for design is instantly infectious and authentic, and this is in turn visible throughout the teams he manages and develops. Michael previously held the position of Senior Design Director of Studio M, the design studio of Dubai developer Meraas, where he oversaw the full design of iconic projects that include La Mer, City Walk and the Nikki Beach resort. He also led the design of both Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and The Beach, in his previous role as Design Director of Benoy.
