Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) has made the decision to initiate the process of forming a company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the intention of opening an office in the country’s capital city, Riyadh.

The Dubai office is already engaged in the design phases, and is in early stage discussions, on numerous high profile projects within Saudi Arabia. According to reports, the value of active construction projects in the Kingdom is approximately $800 billion USD, as the leadership looks to move forward at speed with an economic diversification programme, similar to that of the successful model implemented in Dubai. Tourism is regarded in Saudi Arabia as being a central component in achieving a sustainable economy that is no longer dependent upon oil revenue, and many of Dubai’s key construction and architectural firms are set to play a significant role in broadening the international appeal of the country.

BSBG Managing Partner Alistair McMillan explained that the decision to create a base within Saudi Arabia is both a signal of intent, and a reflection of the amount of work BSBG looks likely to win there on an ongoing basis. “The outlook in Saudi Arabia is extremely positive for us,” Alistair said. “We have taken the decision to begin the establishment process of a BSBG office within Riyadh, both to show our commitment to the market, and because of the number of projects we are already involved with – as well as those we look set to contribute to in the future.”

Saudi Arabia embarked upon its construction drive around five years ago, with countless project announcements continuing ever since. Key highlights of the Saudi project directory include the Red Sea project, Neom, Diriyah Gate, Amaala, Misk City and Al-Qiddiya. “There is plenty of optimism around the country, and a real sense that all stakeholders are committed to producing high quality, sustainable architecture with the goal of engaging people and attracting tourists from across the world,” Alistair said. “We’re delighted to be engaged in some of the projects that will contribute to accomplishing that target.”

More to come on BSBG’s Saudi Arabia office and projects shortly.
