The Bluewaters Mosque is an iconic religious monument located at the heart of Bluewaters in Dubai. Surrounded on three sides by the residential podium, the front elevation of the building opens out onto the main boulevard, creating a unique interface with the wider masterplan and providing a significant point of interest on the island.

While the mosque represents a departure from traditional Islamic mosque design, BSBG worked alongside the client and Islamic Affairs to ensure the design met the required religious criteria, incorporating a traditional minaret and dome to gain final approvals for the contemporary offering.

The finished building aspires to respectfully preserve Islamic architectural heritage, while adding a new dimension to the way in which architects can seek to be innovative when approaching design for places of worship.
