BSBG announces London Green Park Hotel project

Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) is working on the extensive refurbishment of London Green Park Hotel in Mayfair, on behalf of client London + Regional Hotels (L+R Hotels) – a leading hotel developer and operator with an extensive portfolio of hotels and properties across the UK, Continental Europe, the US and the Caribbean. As lead consultant, BSBG is engaged in the provision of executive architecture and executive interior design for the hotel works, which, particularly in terms of planning, represent an extremely high level of complexity due to elements of required excavation and demolition.

One of the first functions BSBG served, having been introduced to the project, was to rationalise the design and explore avenues that would offer potential cost and time savings, reducing exposure to risk for the client. Excavation and demolition accounts for substantial exposure to all three of these concerns, and BSBG was able to provide a new approach that presented the opportunity for a 70% reduction to the extent of excavation and demolition required.

Having moved through the detailed design stages, the project is now onsite, and the initial strip out of the property has commenced. The hotel is set within 15 converted Georgian-era terraced townhouses, seven of which are Grade II listed buildings.

Commenting on the project, BSBG Partner Andrew Bereza said: “The Green Park Hotel project is a significant one for the group, and in particular for our office in London. We’re delighted to be working with L+R Hotels on this challenging refurbishment of a revered hotel in the city. The alignment of BSBG’s values, standards and productivity with those of L+R Hotels has been apparent to us from the outset, and the project has moved at a very rapid pace, thanks to the efforts of all those involved in the stages and milestones achieved thus far.”
