Brewer Smith Brewer Group (BSBG) has received two prestigious honours at the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) Architectural Technology Awards (AT Awards) 2025. Having first secured victory in the New Build category with The Silk District Phase 2, the project went forward to compete for the overall accolade of Project of the Year – and was named the winner.

The AT Awards are recognised as the premier platform for celebrating excellence in Architectural Technology. Organised by CIAT, they honour outstanding achievement across the profession, showcasing projects that combine technical innovation, creativity, and delivery at the very highest level. As the winner of Project of the Year, The Silk District Phase 2 was adjudged to demonstrate industry-leading design capability, and leadership in advancing technology-driven solutions within architecture.

The award-winning project is a large-scale residential development that has transformed an East London site into a thriving, design-led community. The scheme features more than 700 apartments, alongside landscaped public spaces and community amenities, setting a benchmark for high-quality, sustainable living in the UK’s capital. BSBG took on the roles of Lead Consultant, Executive Architect, and Construction Supervision for long-term client and partner, Mount Anvil, in delivering the residential project.

4D Sequencing – Driving Innovation

A decisive factor in the success of the project was BSBG’s pioneering use of 4D sequencing. By integrating construction programmes directly into the BIM environment, the project team was able to model and visualise the build process in real time. This allowed for improved coordination, proactive problem-solving, and clear communication between client, consultants, and contractors – significantly reducing risk and streamlining delivery. The AT Awards judges recognised this innovative approach as a defining strength of the project.

Mark Vaughan, Director and Project Lead, commented on the win: “This recognition is testament to the talent and dedication of our teams across London and Dubai. The Silk District has pushed us to innovate, particularly through the use of 4D sequencing, and it is extremely rewarding to see that commitment to technical excellence celebrated at the very highest level.”

Shaham Ahmed, Head of Studio in London, added: “Winning Project of the Year is a milestone achievement for BSBG in London. It highlights our ability not only to deliver complex projects at scale but also to pioneer methods that add real value for clients and communities. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved with The Silk District Phase 2."

He continued: “These awards underline BSBG’s reputation as a global leader in Architectural Technology and reinforce our commitment to pushing boundaries in design and delivery. The Silk District Phase 2 stands as a prime example of how innovative thinking, grounded in technical precision, can create lasting impact.”
