Construction Update | The Residences Dorchester Collection Dubai

Words by BSBG Media Team, Wednesday 16 June 2021

The Residences, Dorchester Collection, Dubai, has made significant progress in recent months, with a number of key milestones and accomplishments since the turn of the year.

The project is designed by Foster + Partners, and is comprised of two separate towers interlinked at various points by expansive open landscaped podiums, the hallmark of which are a series of ‘free-standing’ white concrete columns standing at a height of approximately 36 metres.

The Residences, Dorchester Collection, Dubai is one the most highly anticipated developments currently under construction in Dubai, and features a 5-star hotel and 39 high-end residences overlooking the marina at Marasi Drive in the Burj Khalifa District.

BSBG Associate Hameed Syed provides the latest updates from the construction site. “The landscape design is now in progress, and from our side BSBG is in the process of compiling the documents for the Building Permit BP 8 submission to Dubai Municipality,” Hameed says.

“Roberts Constructions achieved 10 Million Safe Man hours on 10^th March 2021, which was a great achievement, and they are currently preparing to handover the basement level 2 car park, and all apartments in the residential tower over to the client for commencing their fit-out works.

“Externally, the façade is very close to completion, and many will have noticed that the concrete columns in the void of both the Residential and Hotel towers have been completed and the scaffoldings are now removed.”

Health & Safety example

At the start of 2021, Dubai Municipality visited the site to carry out a safety inspection as per Covid 19 protocol/precautionary measures. The visit came as part of wider media campaign to highlight the way in which health and safety procedures and Covid 19 precautionary measures are being managed at sites across Dubai. As a result of the visit, Dubai Municipality selected The Residences, Dorchester Collection, Dubai site as the model project for their media campaign. “As they walked through the site, the officials were impressed by how organised, tidy and efficient the project is, and this is something that has been the case from day one. All credit to Roberts for the standards they have implemented on this project,” Hameed says.

It was also at the beginning of the year that Omniyat engaged Mirage Leisure & Development to oversee project management during the final phase of construction. Hameed explains: “It was a real statement of intent by developer Omniyat to bring onboard Mirage Leisure & Development at the beginning of the year as the Project Management Consultants. We have great experience in working alongside Mirage on projects such as Bluewaters Residences and The Island, and they’ve come in and done a fantastic job so far.”

BSBG was engaged midway through the concept stage as the executive architect and lead consultant for the project, working alongside concept architects Foster + Partners. Once the detailed design was complete, BSBG was novated to contractor Roberts Constructions under a Design & Build contract to see the project through to completion.
