The Lana, Dorchester Collection, Dubai has opened its doors to guests for the first time. The Lana is a five-star hotel and residential development located beside the waters of Dubai Canal. The architectural concept was designed by Foster + Partners, and the ID by Gilles & Boissier, all brought together in collaboration with developer OMNIYAT. BSBG took the role of Lead Consultant, overseeing design coordination and technical supervision of construction under a Design & Build contract – renewing a long-standing partnership with OMNIYAT that resulted in the successful delivery of The Opus by OMNIYAT.

The Lana hotel features 225 guest rooms and suites and eight dining concepts, as well as a ballroom and conference facilities, a rooftop bar with infinity-edge pool, luxury spa and gym facilities. The residential component is comprised of 39 exclusive residences, including six penthouses with private swimming pools, and a selection of two, three and four-bedroom apartments and duplexes.

BSBG Associate Director, Alistair Bradley, explained more about BSBG’s involvement in the delivery of the project. He said: “We partnered with OMNIYAT & Foster + Partners initially to deliver and resolve the design of the hotel.”

Some of the key tasks for the BSBG +executive team involved resolving and coordinating the two basement levels, as well as the extensive back of house operations in the hotel. Alistair continued: “We dealt with numerous complex coordination issues, which initially involved service access, complex traffic access and flow issues, and finding solutions to incorporate all of the intricate hotel functions required within the basement to deliver this world-class hotel scheme.”

Chris Brown, Director, added: “We've worked with Foster + Partners for many years, so we've developed a very strong relationship and a clear understanding of their requirements in terms of aesthetics. We ensured we were able to safeguard the design of the external building, and the process has been hugely successful for both Foster + Partners and BSBG. It's highly rewarding to see the quality and luxury of OMNIYAT’s finished project.”

BSBG Managing Partner, Alistair McMillan, also expressed his delight at the quality of the finished project and the impact it will have on raising the bar for hospitality in Dubai. “There are numerous technical functions associated with delivering a project of this stature, but together with OMNIYAT and Foster + Partners, we believe we have delivered a world-class hospitality offering which sets a new standard in Dubai. I would like to congratulate OMNIYAT and all the teams that worked so hard to bring this fantastic project to fruition.”
